Heritage is our legacy from the past, what we live with today, and what we pass on to future generations. Our cultural and natural heritage are both irreplaceable sources of life and inspiration.
Insofar as monuments and sites are spaces for sustainable development and reconciliation, UNESCO coordinates actions of its partners by administering the World Heritage Convention (1972).
The World Heritage Committee meets once a year, and consists of representatives from 21 of the States Parties (States Parties are countries which have adhered to the World Heritage Convention.
The World Heritage List includes 851 properties forming part of the cultural and natural heritage which the World Heritage Committee considers as having outstanding universal value.
China was ratified by the World Heritage Convention on Thursday, December 12, 1985. Till to November 2007, China totally have 25 Cultural Heritages, 6 Natural Heritages, and 4 Cultural and Natural Heritages.
