Zhouzhuang in Jiangsu
Posted on Jul 24,2008 10:33

Zhouzhuang is located at the southeast of Suzhou city and south-west of Kunming city, Jiangsu Province.

Zhouzhuang concentrates the beauty of China's water townships. Small bridges over running streams, black roofs above white walls, elegant windows with seashell decorations and cottages are as beautiful as painting. Crisscrossing water lanes, navigating little boats, blue sky mirrored in lucid water, and fragrant flowers in the embrace of green grass. Cottages nestling on the waterside, streets and lanes meandering along rivers and lakes, an area blessed with favorable climate, fertile land, rich resources and outstanding talents. This is a true portrayal of Zhouzhuang's beauty and elegance.

In this small town, there are 10 old bridges with 400-800 years history, 14 bridges constructed in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties which take important roll in the lift of the indigenous population.
