Urumqi Brief
Located on the northern slope of Tianshan Mountains, Urumqi is the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Due to its position a the northern route of the Silk Road, Urumqi was regarded as a strategic city and was heavily guarded by the Han Dynasty, which made important contribution in promoting Sino-foreign economic & cultural exchanges. Urumqi boasts its majestic landscapes and peculiar human and cultural sights, and also have some special activities like horse racing, wrestling, rope walking, etc.

Heavenly Lake: it is located at the foot of 544-meter-high Bogda Peak, the highest mountain in the eastern part of Tianshan Range, the lake has a reputation of the Pearl on Heavenly Mountain for its fascinating scenery. The lake stores 160 million cubic meters of water all the year round, and freezes up in late October and thaws in early May. It is surrounded by numerous towering verdant dragon spruces, tall and straight, and it also has various waterfalls with constantly changing cloud and mist, forming a splendor and open plateau landscape.

Nanshan Pasture: Nanshan Pasture is a branch of north Heavenly Mountain, there are numerous valleys in the pasture, it is cool here in the summer, and is a good place to get away from the heat. Here cloud-kissing snow mountain, glacier glittering and translucent, hills wandering, crags towering, canyons are profound, forest and trees are verdant, flowers and grass covered hillside, spring and waterfall gurgling, the air is fresh, sceneries are charming.

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum: the museum was established in the spring of 1953 in the People's Park in Urumqi City, the building occupies a space of 11,000 square meters and is built in a modern style enhanced by local architectural features. The museum presents a wonderful collection of items from the local area as well as items form other areas on the ancient Silk Road. A number of the articles on display here are the earliest extant examples of certain weaving technologies in China.

Erdao Qiao Market: it is the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in 2001 of the 10 major markets in construction projects. It marks the completion of Erdao Qiao to the center of the national tourism trade to form the circle. Accounting for ground 8818 square meters, 135 meters from east to west, 40 meters wide north-south, the construction area of 35,000 square meters, it is full of rich design of the Uygur architectural style. This market in Urumqi is one of the most famous Bazaar, and you will find many interesting goods here.
