Tianjin Brief
Lying in the north of China, Tianjin is one of the four municipalities directly under the central government, and also one of the China's leading industrial cities. 120 kilometers away from Beijing, the city of Tianjin has always been considered a strategic stronghold for, and a gateway, to Beijing, located in the midpoint of the gold coast of northern china, it is a point of access to the sea for the northern and northwestern areas of the country.

 

Top Attractions

Ancient Cultural Street: covering an area of 224,200 sq meters, with 600 years history, it is standing in the area of key section in stream of the Huahe River. The whole block is still conserved the existing urban pattern and tissue of traditional Chinese layout. The shops are decorated with watercolor paintings and carved bricks. There are plenty of traditional Chinese items on sale here such as calligraphy brushes, handicrafts, kites and fine art work.

Nanshi Food Street: Food Street is a fairly good place for you to sample these cross-cultural Chinese dishes. The food street is located in Nanshi (southern city), where the city's hustle and bustle is. Covering an area of 40,000 square meters, Nanshi Food Street is an ancient building complex 40,000 square meters in area, with more than 100 restaurants. An exquisite parade of palace-like classic buildings house over one hundred restaurants that offer luxury dishes, snacks and flavors of styles from all around the country.

Mt. Panshan Scenic Area: Mt. Panshan has been described as "the most beautiful mountain east of Beijing". It is famous for jade pine trees, strange and astonishing peaks, clear waters, grotesquely shaped rocks and clusters of ancient temples. Its main peak, Moon Hanging Peak (Guayue Feng), 864-meters above sea level, it is claimed that the peak of the mountain commands a view of the Great Wall on the west and Mount Tai on the east. This highest peak also has, situated on its summit, the Dingguang Stupa that is alleged to contain a tooth of Buddha.

Huangyaguan Great Wall: runs on the ridge of mountains to the north of Ji County, it was initially built in Northern Qi Dynasty (550-577). With various forms of water towers presented along the walls, and the largest tower of the Great Wall "Phoenix Tower" and the most unique "Baguaguan Castle", Huangyaguan Great Wall is like a library of the Great Wall.

Dagu Fort: lying 60 kilometers southeast of Tianjin City, Dagu Fort was built in 1816 to protect Beijing in the Qing Dynasty. As a heroic symbol of China's flight against foreign invasion, the emplacement is considered one of the three treasures of Tianjin by its people. Many Chinese people regard Dagu Kou Forts as a symbol of Western imperialism, and in the past the site was especially frequented by those who sought inspiration in patriotism and nationalism.

The markets and stores here are notorious as a shopping paradise.
