Kaili brief
Kaili is a city in QIandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province. Kaili is the home to Miao and Dong tribes, and host more than 120 Miao festivals throughout the year. The arts and crafts of Miao, including jewelry, embroidery, brocade batik and paper-making, are renowned.

Langde Long skirt Miao Village: Langde long skirt Miao Village, 50km north of Kaili, is a must-visit to savor the unique Miao ethnic culture, which is known as the Miao's Ethnic Village Museum with different Miao's style houses. "Diaojiaolou" is one of the typical architectures. Langde Long skirt Miao Village is famous for its silver ornaments, embroidered costumes and local lusheng music and dance performance.
Shiqiao Miao village: Shiqiao Miao Village has a history of paper making from mulberry tree whose ancient traditional methods of production are still followed today.
Qingman Short skirt Miao village: Qingman Short-skirt Miao Village, situated in the southwest of Kaili, is one of the most typical short-skirt Miao villages near Kaili. Their clothing is distinct and colorful for both casual and holiday wear, which consists of a tunic top decorated with silver ornaments and gorgeously hand-embroidered designs of the dragon, phoenix, fish, bird, and beast, and a hand-knitted skirt no more than 20 centimeters long. This whole costume constitutes an important facet of local folkways.
Zhouxi Miao Village: Zhouxi, 16km south of Kaili, is a special town consisting of a number of Miao Villages. Every year, Zhouxi holds Lusheng Festival, one of the most important festival of ethnic Miao Groups. This festival aims to sacrifice the ancestors and celebrate the harvest. Before the celebration, the worshipping ritual always are presided by the venerable old man of the village; meanwhile, every household also make the worship to the ancestors at home. Later, the girls dress up in their intricate silver headdresses and beautiful costumes, while the boys carry their Lusheng (Lusheng is a reed instrument, which is made of bamboo and can measure up to 3 meters or as little as 1/3 meter.) and head to the Lusheng Stadium to celebrate the festival. The festival lasts for 4-6 days. This colorful courting party replete with exciting bullfights, horse races, Lusheng playing, singing contests, costume shows and traditional dancing.

Kaili is on the railway connecting Changsha to Kunming. The road connects Guiyang, Guilin via Congjiang and Sanjiang. Adventure the southeast of Guizhou to experience the ethnic custom of Miao, Dong Minorities.
Sunday market: Sunday market is opened on Sundays, and sells varieties of fresh food, vegetable, fruit, and the local ethnic people's living goods including special foods, herbal remedies and all sort of decorations. In the market, women in traditional clothes are seen, the things they bring from the villages are exchanged in the market.
