Ya'an brief

Ya'an, 120km southwest of Chengdu, is on the Sichuan-Tibetan Highway. The first panda was discovered in Ya'an. After Wolong Nature Reserve was destroyed during the earthquake, the pandas were moved to their new home in Ya'an – Bi Feng Xia Panda Center.

Top attractions
Bi Feng Xia Panda Base: Bi Feng Xia Panda Base consists of Acclimation and Breeding District, Office and Living District, Bamboo District, and Wild Training District. It is the biggest half-open Giant Panda Ecological Park in China. Besides viewing the roly-poly, black and white pandas, here is a lot more involves, a very pleasant country park.
Mount Erlang: Mt. Erlangshan is characterized by primitive forests, varied wildlife, rugged mountains, unspoiled streams. The view from the mountain summit is superb, with towering peaks often cloaked in mist, like a white dragon rolling in from the sea. 

Recommended tour
Ya'an has no airport or train station. The convenient way to reach Ya'an is the highway, only 120km from Chengdu, taking about 1.5 hours.

Shopping:
Bi Feng Xia produces some mountain mushroom, vegetable and fruit. Besides, there are many handicrafts could be bought as the souvenirs: Butterfly Specimen, Root-carving Handicraft and Animal Toys which are made according to the wild animals in Bi Feng Xia Wild Animal Park, especially for the lovely pandas.
Entertainment:
For traditional tour, one day tour from Chengdu to Bi Feng Xia, and back to Chengdu for overnight. But if you stay overnight there, it is interesting to attend bonfire party.
